This year’s Wench Film Festival poster is set in a hospital.
It was inspired by a member of our team who has had a relentlessly difficult year, and then suffered a serious leg injury that brought her into hospital care.
The hospital, for us, is not a metaphor for healing or clarity. It’s a place where limits become unavoidable, where the body interrupts everything else.
This poster is dedicated to the many women who carry too much, for too long, across work, care, and survival, until something finally gives.
It’s not about making light of pain. It’s about acknowledging it.

Synopsis
Troubled teen, Anahita, finds comfort in Shalini, the mysterious History teacher leading a trek to a little-known prehistoric site, dubbed 'The Navel'. This unconventional school trip into an ancient forest turns eerie as cryptic connections emerge between the Navel and a cult that worships Bokshi, a much-feared folkloric demoness from antiquity. Falling in line with Shalini's insidious designs, Anahita finds herself tested as the Navel nears and the long-forgotten myth of Bokshi unfurls, forcing her to confront the horrors of her past.

What Lingers ! by Dr. Riksundar Banerjee
Beyond Cinema: The Spectres of Bollywood delves into the eerie transition of Indian horror from low-budget cult classics to high-concept supernatural epics. In 2026, this genre is being redefined through original folklore and psychological dread, moving past traditional jump scares to explore haunting cultural myths. By blending atmospheric storytelling with modern cinematic techniques, these films examine the lingering spirits that bridge the gap between ancient.
