🖤 Wench Dolls Are Here

When I started WENCH, I didn’t think it would lead to dolls.

But here we are.

Two moody little mascots stitched by hand, by women, for a woman-run rebellion.

These dolls were made in collaboration with the incredible women of Creative Handicrafts in Mumbai.

They carry stories.

Of survival. Of skill. Of sisterhood.

And they mark our very first attempt at fundraising for the WENCH Film Festival — India’s only genre space dedicated to horror, fantasy, and sci-fi from the margins.

Buy one if you feel called.

Buy one if you want to support women who make.

Buy one if you want to keep this strange little universe alive.

Rs. 1499

A small spell, stitched with love.

“WENCH has always stood for shifting the gaze — and that includes who gets to make, earn, and be seen. Collaborating with Creative Handicrafts was not just about producing dolls, but about empowering women to own their craft and their income. Each stitch is survival, each doll a quiet rebellion.”

 — Team Wench Film Festival

“I would like to see Creative Handicrafts reach out to more women. I'd like to see our horizons move beyond the city of Mumbai, to rural women who live in much misery and deprivation. We could provide sponsorship for thousands of children deprived of a decent schooling. This needs to be done without Creative Handicrafts losing sight of its core identity; standing and working for the most deprived.

Finally, it gives me immense joy to see the transformation happening in the lives of these women. It’s worth noting that we need to take the long view. It takes more than a generation to effect a substantial change. I thank all our supporters and partners who have relentlessly supported us through the past 30 years.”
